There’s a point when the story doesn’t even matter to me when I still have a ton of other things to accomplish. Take Sleeping Dogs, for example. I still haven’t “beaten” the game yet, because I’ve been focusing on all of the side missions, collectibles, et cetera. I’ve beaten games before where I’ve stuck around for a while afterwards just to complete things.

If you’re really into the story, I can definitely understand it being a buzzkill.

The only way to bring it down was on it’s own and it did that with the story, sadly. I just hope the next iteration is much better in this regard, they learned a lot from FC2. I just hope Ubisoft learned that a story should deviate that much.

I hope some of the biggest niggles are remedied through some patch, because I do plan on giving the game a go at some point. I can’t get enough of open-world games, so I’m hoping my love for those is enough to overshadow some of the annoyances.
