For online play I tend to use the side buttons for mic triggering also, just because I find it easy to reach in the heat of battle. I think with the scroll wheel I’d end up switching weapons by accident, haha. If you like what the mouse offers, I’d recommend it for your purpose.

I absolutely -require- thumb buttons (I usually dedicate one to a melee attack). If you happen to never use side buttons, this mouse should prove itself suitable.
