Default PS2 came out 12 years ago today

Does anyone else here have fond memories of this console? I don't have nearly as many as I did with the PS1, and I actually never even owned a PS2 (I did buy one for mom back in the day, though), but I did put in quite a bit of time into it thanks to friends.

Used to be the de facto console for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and pretty much any worthwhile RPG you could think of. For a fun fact: despite the PS3 having been released in late 2006, some odd developers will release games for the PS2. Up until last year, some of EA's sports titles (like Madden) were also released for the PS2.
Intel Core i7-3960X, GIGABYTE G1.Assassin 2, Kingston 16GB DDR3-2133, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB
Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB SSD (OS, Apps), WD VR 1TB (Games), Corsair 1000HX, Corsair H70 Cooler
Corsair 800D, Dell 2408WFP 24", ASUS Xonar Essence STX, Gentoo (KDE 4.11. 3.12 Kernel)

The only gaming console I ever owned (and didn't regret it one moment) was the PS1. What a great console that was. Ugly gray as hell, but looked beautiful then. Well, outside those dirt old consoles of the 80s, that's the only one I owned.

I did buy a PS2 for the girls... thrice. It was quite the experience. You see, all the time the three PS2 were breaking, that old PS1 was still working.
