Default Corsair Voyager GT 8GB

Corsair announced new flash media at this years CES and amongst their new product line-up is their Voyager GT. Though not a replacement for their original Voyager series, the GTs have one specific goal: performance.

You can read the full review here and discuss it here.

It would be really great to see the IO performance reviewed (pref database and web patterns) to see how the low access time of this SSD drive compares in that situation. I'm thinking Intel's IO meter - are you able to add those numbers to the review?

Default OCZ

I have seen some great tests on the OCZ ATV 8GB flash drive, I'd love to see some comparisons with that

Default Beware of newer version

Just to publicize the fact that newer versions of the Voyager GT (with the first numbers of this code 07306002-0) are slower than what you read in past reviews. I called Corsair and they told me they put a cheaper chip controller on newer versions and that they could replace mine for a regular 16gb Voyager. I get 24/21 in HD Tach R/W. And in all others, more or less (Sandra XII, HD Tune, HD Bench...)

Too bad. It still writes fast though. I might keep mine. I've read that the MLC (Multi-layers) technology used in higher capacity drives is much slower.

As far as I'm aware (I didn't check), the newer versions retail for less than what they used to, which is why there are slower chips.

I could be wrong though, but you are right... the scores might not add up to what we saw when this review was published.
