Atari 2600 Celebrates 30 Years
From our front-page news: Ahh, who could forget the Atari 2600? The console came out before I was born, and I never really had much experience playing with it while growing up, but it's hard to dispute the effect that it had on the videogame industry. If you have one in your closet, dust it off and relive some fond memories!
The monstrosity above is an early prototype of the Atari CX2600 Video Computer System that went into production in October 1977. The $199 system came bundled with Combat, two rubberized joysticks, a pair of paddle controllers and a handy dandy RF modulator to mangle your parents' TV reception.
