The amount of DLC for The Sims 3, for example, is jaw-dropping, as is the price for it. There must be 20 “expansions” at this point, and a lot of them cost $20, or $40 for a Deluxe edition. And the amount of content you get with each is ridiculously low. Sometimes it’s a single building with stuff inside that’s new.

If I recall correctly, the first time I saw EA’s money-grubbing DLC techniques was at the launch of the 360. It was with Need for Speed: Most Wanted, which had DLC from the get-go that let people progress faster throughout the game… buying access to cars you’d gain access to through normal gameplay. And to think, that was 9-years-ago.

I might have hated Origin or Uplay a while back, but now I really don’t mind them. EA is getting much better too, as they are really trying to care. They recently gave away Dead Space for free! Can’t beat that!
