When EVGA released its Hybrid AIO liquid cooler for the GeForce GTX 980 this past March, I admit that I was a little baffled at the fact that there wasn’t also a version for the monstrous GTX TITAN X. After all, that card has 50% more cores than the GTX 980 and triple the VRAM – it could use all of the cooling help it could get.
Well, I guess there’s no more reason to complain, as EVGA has just announced that the TITAN X has received some Hybrid love. As you can see in the shot below, the card looks like a spitting image of the GTX 980 Hybrid, which depending on your tastes, could be a good or bad thing. I think the card looks a bit bland, but it’s challenging when the reference card looks so damn good.
With the shift from air to water, EVGA says that temperatures will drop from ~85°C to just over 50°C. As the summer weather is upon us, that sure does sound good. It also goes without saying that noise will be improved as well, and also overclocking capabilities.
Speaking of clocks, EVGA has boosted this TITAN X from 1,000MHz to 1,152MHz, and the GPU Boost clock from ~1,089MHz to ~1,241MHz. Given the cooling potential, I would not be surprised if users could push the card a bit further than this.
As with the 980 Hybrid, the TITAN X cooler can be purchased stand-alone, in case you want to upgrade a card you already have. If you go that route, you should be prepared to cough up $110. If you’re wanting to buy the prebuilt card, there will be a $100 premium, placing it at $1,099.99. While the original TITAN X from EVGA and also the Hydro Copper model have purchase limits of one-per-customer, you’re able to by the Hybrid model four at a time. I am not sure what’s more impressive, the cost of that setup, or that EVGA thinks people will have room for 4 individual radiators!
