We’ll probably find out as the in-hand date draws closer, but I think you’re right. Putting a phone like this at $200 against its own $350 Nexus would be a bad move for Google’s overall bottom line.

It just sucks that EVERYBODY will have to pay the inflated carrier price.

Here’s a link to some benchmarks of the S4 Pro quad-core SoC compared to the NVIDIA Tegra 4. I’d like to find some tests of the S4 Pro against the Snapdragon 800 to see where it falls, but it’s all synthetic testing. Who knows if it would translate into real world usage.

Their initial LTE offering was 6Mbps. Meanwhile this backup phone only has HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and on T-Mobile I’m getting 3 to 6Mbps. Once my N5 gets here HSPA+ and LTE all the better.

If worse comes to worse, you could just use a little bit of that data via Skype to make the call. Grats on the phone!

But I went ahead and got a backup phone and am canceling my CDMA service with Sprint. Picked up a SIM for T-Mobile on the $30 a month plan with 5GB of Data. Caveat is the 100 minutes but i don’t make calls so…

I was looking at the Fierce which sells for around 120 but this MOTO G seems like a a better alternative. Better screen, OS Support, battery, cpu, basically everything for 50 more. Not a bad deal at all.

Or is that exclusive to Nexus? I guess maybe Google wouldn’t want to bastardize the sales of its own higher-end Nexus line by introducing this…

I’d expect Bell and in turn Virgin to pick it up later on as well. If my N5 plans don’t work out, this might be the winner.

I don’t like contracts, and I don’t want to shell out $400+ for a phone I’ll barely touch. But I do want something reasonable that’s not going to lag on me when trying to do anything. This might be right up my alley. The aesthetics are nothing to write home about, but they’re suitable enough.
