In case it isn’t obvious, home automation is quickly becoming big business. If you want some proof of it, look no further than the fact that a GPU vendor has just entered the market. That vendor is ZOTAC, and its first system, called Cozee, is quite compelling.
Cozee consists of three main components. At the forefront is Cozee Mini Gateway, which is the effective hub for the entire operation. You’ll end up connecting to this hub to control the other two products, Cozee Sensor and Cozee Smart Plug.

ZOTAC Cozee Sensor
ZOTAC Cozee Smart Plug
Cozee Sensor is just as it sounds: it’s a sensor that monitors that particular area, with attributes including temperature, humidity, brightness, and even motion. Cozee Smart Plug is also just as it sounds: it allows you to control power to the devices that are plugged into it. That sounds simple, but Smart Plug can prove truly useful with its scheduling feature to save power. The device can also monitor energy use, so you can figure out which appliances or devices are proving to be true power hogs.
Unfortunately, the press release we were sent did not include availability or pricing information, but we hope to have that soon. It’s actually kind of interesting to not have that information right now, as the accompanying mobile apps have been available for the past month (iOS; Android).
As of the time of writing, we were unable to find Cozee in stock at a handful of popular etailers, so if you’re interested in diving into home automation with ZOTAC, keep your eyes peeled on your favorite etail site.
