Enthusiast-level gaming notebooks don't need to cost a fortune; something ASUS proves with its $1,249 G53SX 15.4" offering. It features a 1080p display and an NVIDIA GTX 560M that's able to power today's games to it. This, in addition to an Intel quad-core processor and 12GB of RAM make it a very powerful and drool-worthy notebook.
The term "3D" has been used quite a bit over the past couple of months, and as it stands today, there's a fair bit of content available to those with capable hardware. But on the mobile side of things, support is just beginning to creep in. The first available option was from ASUS, with its G51J 3D, and we're taking a look at it here.
At a CES press conference, ASUS unveiled a slew of notebooks well worth looking at, including the high-end NX90 multimedia notebook, featuring Bang & Olufsen speakers, the high-end G73Jh Republic of Gamers notebook, the Karim Rashid-designed Eee PC 1008P, and also a Bamboo-infused U-series.
To purchase a quality gaming notebook just a few years ago would have set you back at least $2,000. The situation is far better today, and it's proven with ASUS' G51Vx, coming in at $999. It comes complete with NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 260M graphics card, a great feature-set and plays most of today's games at max detail settings with ease.
When Gateway launched their UC series less than three months ago, the UC7807u retailed for $799. Today, the exact same model and configuration sits at $599. We'll tackle the reasons as to why inside, but let's just say, for $599, the UC7807u is one heck of a notebook, thanks to both being feature-packed and great-looking.
