Borderlands 2 Golden Key Details Emerge

Earlier this week, Gearbox’s ChrisF released information about the Golden Key and what wonderful treasures it could possibly unlock. When this Golden Box (shown below) located in Sanctuary is opened, you will always be given a very rare item(s) that is scaled to your character’s level at the time you crack the chest open.

The only problem with this is that you only have 1 key if you pre-ordered the game, you will not be given another one, unless you were lucky enough to get a code from a Gearbox event or giveaway. This isn’t one key per character, this is one key total and there is no way to trade or sell a Golden Key.

This obviously puts Borderland 2 players in a very difficult position. Do you open the Golden Chest as soon as you can to have a kick-ass item(s) at low level or do you wait until you reach max level and get the most bad-ass item(s) the game can offer?
