It’s time once again to exercise those saliva glands: DICE has just released an official video to show off what its Frostbite 3 engine is capable of. This engine is of course going to power the upcoming Battlefield 4, and like BF3, it’s set to stun us all. Through the video, we can see all that the company is doing to increase the realism in games, and I have to say, I’m genuinely impressed.
There are a number of worthwhile features here, but one I absolutely love is networked water simulation. This assures that each person playing sees the exact same waves, to assure far greater realism, and more than before, how well you swim totally depends on how rough the water is and the direction of the waves. Networking wise, it’s always driven me bonkers that my MP teammates never see the exact same thing I do, so I’d love to see a lot more of that functionality.
If only the folks behind the Call of Duty series did so much innovating. We’ll see if that changes onceĀ Call of Duty: Ghost gets released.
