GoDaddy is currently dealing with a significant outage problem, so if you’ve been experiencing downed websites today, this is probably why. The exact issue is hard to pinpoint, but some have said it’s a problem with GoDaddy’s nameservers (DNS), but regardless of that, it seems that thousands, if not millions of websites have remained unavailable to many people today.
As if the insult made to small business owners who host their websites with GoDaddy wasn’t bad enough, a singular Anonymous member is claiming to be responsible. While it was first believed that the collective was behind it, this individual reached out to TechCrunch to stress that it’s only them.
Potentially millions of sites down due to a single person? I am not sure if that involves extreme skill or if GoDaddy simply had horrible security in place that allowed someone to waltz right in with digital garden shears to wreak some havoc. It shouldn’t be too long before we find out.
If your website happens to be down, you can monitor GoDaddy’s Twitter profile for updates.
