The Android vs. iOS battle is sure to rage on for many years, but I can tell you one thing: Between these two, it’s Android that continues to make me fatter. Just look back at the past couple of years; we’ve had: jelly beans, ice cream sandwiches, gingerbread, eclairs, donuts, and now, in lieu of key lime pie, one of America’s delicacies: KitKat. Yum. Gimme a break of that KitKat update.
As lame as it may appear at first to see an OS team up with a candy maker, Google insists that no money has changed hands in this “deal”. Apparently, it’s all for fun, but it’s fun that Nestle is happy to indulge in – and for good reason. The company expects to push an additional 50 million KitKat bars thanks to this tie-in. For users and munchers, the tie-in will result in Google Play points and tablets being given away.
Yup – KitKat is milking this for sure.
The source of the KitKat Android photo at the top comes from Google developer Sundar Pichai, who also divulged a fun statistic: Android has just surpassed 1 Billion activations. Impressive, but not so surprising, given its rising market presence in recent years.
