Homebrews, regardless of the platform they’re developed for, can sometimes rock. A great example of why comes to us in the form of Aperture Science DS, a Portal-inspired game for Nintendo’s DS. The game is coded by smealum, with the graphics tasks headed by Löbo, and at the moment, it’s considered to be an early release.

This version is the first public release. It is very buggy and incomplete, but it is mostly playable. It includes 14 levels made by smealum, loganino and tenteran. It also features a full-fledged on-board level editor inspired by portal 2′s own perpetual testing initiative.
To help whet your appetite, the developers have released a gameplay video:
The fact that the game acts just like and looks just like Portal is impressive enough, but the fact that it also includes a level editor makes this a seriously impressive release.
