Rise of the Triad Reboot Lands July 31st, Preorders Score Four Classic Apogee Titles

Apogee’s classic Rise of the Triad is getting a reboot, and so far, it looks good. Whether or not it’s going to please hardcore fans of the series remains to be seen, but based on the YouTube trailer below, it could prove to be a popular shooter for those who’ve never even played the original:

The fact that Rise of the Triad came from Apogee should be enough to convince you that it’s well-worth checking out. The company was without question one of my favorites in the early 90s, and I think it’d be great to see other series or single titles the company released rebooted as well (Cosmo’s Cosmic Adventure, anyone?).

The game’s reboot will be sold for a very reasonable $14.99, and those who pre-order get an even sweeter deal: Rise of the Triad: Dark War, Extreme Rise of the Triad, Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold and Blake Stone: Planet Strike will be yours, today, for no extra charge.

Are you planning to pick up the remade Rise of the Triad? I will be – there’s no question about that.

i thought the damage would be a lot worse than 14.99. I guess I’ll preorder.

I thought the same thing. $15 is a very comfortable price-point.

Steam’s added a bunch of new games recently. Duke Nukem 1 + 2, Final Fantasy, Mortal Kombat ….

Ahh, I didn’t notice Mortal Kombat, but did the others. It’s great! I’ve been meaning to go back and play DN1 and 2 again, but man… so many games!
