Kingston has just announced the release of two brand-new flash drives designed for those who demand bullet-proof (as much as possible, anyways) security for their on-the-go data. Those drives are the DataTraveler 4000G2 with Management (DT4000G2DM) and DataTraveler Vault Privacy 3.0 with Management (DTVP30DM).
One of the standout features of these drives is hidden (OK, not really) in their names: ‘with Management’. Through DataLocker’s technology SafeConsole, administrators can manage these drives from afar through a management console. This canĀ also enhance security, because it allows remote password management in addition to local, so should a password be lost, it could be reset remotely (it’s not clear if this would result in the loss of data, but we’d assume so).
Other perks include activation of full audit trails, support for geolocation and geofencing, automated inventory, and a remote kill feature in the event a flash drive finds its way into the hands of someone outside the company.
In February, Kingston acquired IronKey, makers of some of the most secure flash products on the planet. The company isn’t keeping secret its commitment to providing storage that’s about as bullet-proof as it can get, which can offer some assurance to those who need to put a great deal of faith into such products. After all, dozens or perhaps even thousands of people could be equipped with these secure drives.
Both the DT4000G2DM and DTVP30DM are available in densities ranging from 4GB – 64GB, and can peak at 250MB/s read and 85MB/s write for the largest 64GB models. The DT4000G2DM supports FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certification, while the DTVP30DM supports FIPS 197. The latter can also include anti-virus protection to help make sure nothing leaks onto the device and ultimately spreads through an entire enterprise network.
If you’re interested in either one of these drives, you’ll be happy to know that they’re available right now. Isn’t not having to wait a great thing?
