A Look At AMD’s Radeon Pro WX 3100 Workstation Graphics Card

AMD last month rounded out its Radeon Pro WX series with the WX 3100 and WX 2100. These nearly identical cards differ themselves by their framebuffer: 4GB vs. 2GB. It’s the beefier of the two cards we’re taking a look at here – a low-profile option that sips little power, and sits quiet while it works away.

At Computex 2017, AMD showed the world its upcoming product releases. From Ryzen Mobile APUs, EPYC server CPUs, laptops and desktops from OEM partners, and surprise announcements for Threadripper’s 64 PCIe lanes and RX Vega launch date. The next couple of months are going to be busy!

The hype leading up to the launch of AMD’s Radeon RX Vega is hard to ignore. In fact, it’s the kind of hype that every company dreams of. Given that, a release of an RX 500 series that doesn’t contain Vega could come as a surprise, or even a rude awakening. But, if you’ve been in the market for a new GPU that won’t break the bank, both the RX 570 and RX 580 are well worth checking out.

At NVIDIA’s annual GPU Technology Conference (GTC), a whole wave of current and future product announcements were revealed. We caught our first glimpse of Volta in the form of the Tesla V100 compute card, Holodeck real-time collaboration along with scaling deep learning across multiple industries and the software to go with it. Finally a quick look at ISAAC, the robot AI simulation system.

This card might sport an odd-sized 11GB framebuffer, and memory bandwidth of 11Gbps, but what ultimately matters is that it becomes the most suitable 4K gaming card to date (and not to mention, an amazing ultrawide card.)
