Cooler Master V6 GT CPU Cooler

In the market for the best CPU cooler for the buck? Cooler Master’s V6 GT is the one to look out for. It features a great design that’s both appealing to look at and efficient in doing its job, and despite it taking up less room over all compared to other mega-coolers out there, it offers exceptional cooling ability.

Page 3 – Final Thoughts

At a retail price point of $70, Cooler Master has set the bar for mid-range priced cooling. When you compare it to the more expensive NH-D14 and various self-contained water cooling counterparts, it’s hard to deny the appeal. This is definitely one of the best deals on the market right now in terms of raw cooling power. I have to say I was somewhat taken when I realized just how well this guy performed. Without a doubt this is most likely the cooler to have right now if you’re into air and are ready to buy.

The next HUGE plus is the footprint it requires to do its job. I have had nothing but headaches with most of the large coolers when it comes to installing them with my tall ram and the P55 platform I run. It seems that S775 and S1366 platforms are spaced far differently with the ram offset further away from the CPU socket which is definitely not the case with most, if not all, P55 motherboards. Not only was there some space, there was a fair bit of it. I, for one, will always welcome any extra space in between my components.

Despite all the great performance, the one downside that is glaring is the awkward mounting hardware. I found myself fumbling with the brackets, setting them up for my particular platform, and it was borderline difficult to get the back plate to stay in position while attempting to line up the screws to secure everything. While I will give an honorable mention to having the ability to slightly offset things in each direction if needed, it was just plain tough to feel at ease manipulating everything into proper place.

Any way you look at it, the positives so far negate the negatives that I have to recommend this cooler to anyone and everyone. This is quite simply the best performing cooler that does not infringe upon the rest of your hardware. It’s not too heavy and it even has excellent styling. We definitely have a great product in front of us and it whole heartedly deserves the editor’s choice award. You will not regret purchasing the V6 GT and your PC will thank you in the end.
