Palit GeForce 8800GT Super+1GB

We’ve been fans of NVIDIA’s 8800 GT since launch, and Palit helps us remember why. Though utilizing reference clocks, the Super+1GB doubles the competitions memory, but as we found out, it’s difficult to see a difference. Overclocking yields far better results, and luckily, this card delivers there as well.

Page 7 – Futuremark 3DMark 06

Welcome to the most loved and hated benchmark on the planet, Futuremark’s 3DMark 06. This benchmark was launched back in January of 2006, so it’s tests are not exactly up to par with today’s graphic cards, but it’s still a decent way to gauge how today’s cards scale with each other. The next version of 3DMark, Vantage, will be a complete revamp of the benchmark we know today and will no doubt make our computers feel useless once it’s released.

Even with twice the memory and running at a top resolution with 2x AA, Palit’s card didn’t come close to the ASUS in terms of overall score. It goes to show that you really should have specific needs if you are going to take advantage of the 1GB of GDDR. Higher clocks win all around.
