NVIDIA PureVideo Presentation

NVIDIA has set out to bring the ultimate video and HDTV experience to the PC. Their PureVideo technology has exciting features like acceleration of video decoding, HDTV deinterlacing, Inverse Telecine and a high-quality rescaling engine. In the second part of this 35-page presentation NVIDIA’s new DualTV technology is shown. It is the “industry’s highest quality dual-analog tuner”, according to NVIDIA.

This is yet another slideshow from NVIDIA.. this one was not meant to be seen to the public until next month. NVIDIA really wants ATI dead, that’s for sure. Head over to techPowerUp! for the full slideshow.

Thermaltake AquaBay M3 Water Reservoir Review.

As this AquaBay M3 will connect up to just about any pipe size it is universal for all water cooled heatsinks systems on the market and as you can see in our example it would only be a five minute job to install this reservoir. We found that you can fit 10mm tubing to the standard small pipe fittings. We are going to award this our Editors Top Choice for a water cooled heatsink system reservoir as it is the best we have seen.

Hiper HPU-4K580-MS Review

If Hiper can deliver some additional features in a rev.2 of the product, I think they’ll have a big winner on their hands. Given the massive competition going on in the power supply market these days, if Hiper wants to compete, I wouldn’t be surprised to find that Hiper delivers.

Gigabyte K8N Pro SLi Review

The Gigabyte K8N Pro SLi comes with a very affordable price tag along with some nice features, such as dual BIOS, support for SATA3GB/s and many more. Overall, the Gigabyte K8N Pro SLi is a value board with moderate performance. But if you are looking on overclocking, you may want to look else where because this motherboard offers limited overclocking. For users who are interested in getting a budget SLI setup, this motherboard will certainly fit the bill!

Intel Pentium M 750 + i915PM Express Performance

DFI’s 855GME-MGF motherboard has been receiving a fair amount
of attention in recent months due to its Socket 479 Pentium M support.
When an Intel Pentium M is utilized in conjunction with one of these
Socket 479 desktop motherboards, the high performance level can be quite
shocking. Although we’re running the Pentium M 750 notebook at stock
speeds in this article, we’ve posted some results to demonstrate Intel’s
mobile capabilities under Linux. Hitting the bench today is an
IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad R52 with 1.86GHz Pentium M processor, i915 Express
Chipset, 512MB DDR2, and an ATI X300 utilizing GCC 4.0 and the Linux
2.6.12 kernel.

Atrix Lexicon Series Case Review

Not long ago I reviewed a case that I modded, un-modded review of course. The case was made by a company called Atrix, the quality and price was exceptional. The case was well built, sturdy and functional. Today I have another case from Atrix, the Lexicon, it is a pre-mod case of course. The internal chassis is essentially the same as my last Atrix review, but the outside has got a complete overhaul, with an etched plexi window and EL front panel. It even includes a 480Watt power supply.

NVIDIA G70 Go Presentation

NVIDIA’s launch of the GeForce 7800 GTX has been a huge success, now they bring that platform to the mobile sector. It has double the rendering performance, while having the same power consumption. It also comes in a pin-compatible package making it easy for notebook manufacturers to upgrade their designs. We have a 26 page presentation straight from NVIDIA.

I remember when the Go 6800Ultra was released.. I was drooling. Now it feels like deja vu with the Go 7800GTX. Check out the full slideslow at techPowerUp!

Evercool Nighthawk and Neon Crab Review

Evercool continues to release many various cooling products for our system needs. The Nighthawk looks similar to the Jetart VGA
cooler. The Neon Crab might come in handy for those toasty hot memory sticks.

Albatron 7800GTX Review

Without a doubt, the 7800GTX offers the best performance possible
from a single video card at this point in time. While it certainly costs a
lot of money, those who can afford it won’t be disappointed. I look forward
to the day when Albatron releases a model that has their Cold Fusion (Wise
Fan III + Heat Pipe Technology) cooler! With hope, we should be seeing
something new from Albatron in the very near future.

nVidia ForceWare 81.26

It looks like the second beta of the 80 series has been leaked by Asrock. Wierd entries added to this one, including 6100, 6250, 6500 and 6700. Did we really need more releases in the 6*00 series?

If you are interested in downloading the driver, you can do so at NGOHQ. I’ll have to give it a go..

NVIDIA tells us the truth about CrossFire

ATI’s competitor NVIDIA has sat down and put together a presentation dealing with the shortcomings of CrossFire. Problems like limited resolution and game issues are listed. Not only do they cover the CrossFire video cards, but also problems with ATI’s dual VGA motherboard chipsets.

Well, I learned today what type of morons NVIDIA can be. Lots of half-truths and lies in this one. Check out the full article at techPowerUp!

Abit AW8-MAX 3rd Eye II 955x Motherboard

Hang on doesn’t the AW8-MAX come with a realtek sound????… ok no seriously this is were I think the new version of the µGuru clock comes into its own. OCZ EL-DDR PC3500 Gold GX Memory Review

By the looks of OCZ’s PC3500 EL Gold Edition GX memory, and more specifically each 512MB module’s CAS 2-2-2-5 timings, we’re right on the money with that assessment. By default the OCZ PC3500 EL Gold Edition GX DDR memory is rated to run at up to 216 MHz (or DDR433). A memory capacity of 1GB seems like the sweet spot for everyday computing, and the two 512MB OCZ PC3500 EL Gold Edition GX DIMMs are also “optimized” for dual channel configuration.

Nintendo Revolution Controller Pics!

I’ll admit, my first impression of it was one of cautious hope, but after watching the demo and keynote, I’m now excited about video games in a way I haven’t been since I first picked up that blocky rectangle of gray plastic.

I have no idea what to think of this, yet. I just can’t picture myself enjoying gaming with such a controller.. I would think ones arms would get tired some quick. It’s definiately innovative though, so you’ve got to hand it to Nintendo for being daring. Check out the read at Ars Technica.

First X1800XT Benchmarks — Maybe

Well ATI sure kept us waiting, but it will finally be introduced this month, the R520 architecture, the successor to the X800 family of graphics cards and a contender for the 3D graphics throne. But why wait for that introduction when you can have a sneak peek today? Normally we would’ve adhered to ATI’s NDA and published results the moment it expired. However this time around ATI decided to just not bother with us as they made it very clear that we did not make the cut, as we have written some articles about CrossFire, R520 and ATI’s financial situation that were apparently not appreciated. Hence we’ve not been briefed by ATI, nor did we sign an NDA, or have been invited to the launch event, so basically they decided to cut us off.

So out of spite, they published results that they acquired through a vendor. Now, I’m not sure whether to be impressed or not. In some tests, it doesn’t awesome, and in others it sucks. Maybe we will just have to wait for official benchmarks.. Check it out at Hardware Analysis.

3-way i955x Motherboard Shootout

What makes a good i955X motherboard? From what we’ve seen in this review, it’s a combination adding a number of useful discrete features to boost a i955X-equipped motherboard to deluxe standard. All three motherboards here carry additional SATA support from Silicon Image, FireWire800 connectivity, and in the case of the ABIT AW8-MAX and Gigabyte Royal boards, dual PCIe Gigabit LAN ASICs from Broadcom. Both also add in enthusiast-specific features, with ABIT opting for heatpipe northbridge cooling and Gigabyte running with a potential 8-phase power supply.

Gigabyte 6600GT Silent Pipe Review

Not everyone can afford graphics card such as the GeForce 6800 or 7800 series. One, not everyone can or are willing to pay that much for a graphics card. Two, not many people really need that kind of performance. And of course, three, not many people will tolerate the heat, noise and power drain these cards can reach under heavy load. For most people, mainstream cards such as the GeForce 6600GT and Radeon X700 Pro offer the best combination between price, performance and convenience.
