The mouse pad is not needed as it once was back in the days of the old ball mice, or even the early optical mice, as they were very particular about their surface. For example, at my work, my desk surface is wood, and I don’t usually use a mouse pad at all. At home however, my desktop is glass, so having a mouse pad is simply not optional for me.
Not only has having a glass top desk forced me to use a mouse pad out of necessity, but it has also shown me that having a mouse pad is a really nice luxury, particularly when you are looking at something other than the 8”x8” standard size pads.
Thermaltake’s DASHER, part of the Tt eSports brand, is offered in three different sizes to meet your needs, dubbed DASHER MINI SLIM, DASHER MEDIUM, and DASHER EXTENDED. What we are looking at today is the DASHER EXTENDED. The EXTENDED measures in at a HUGE 900mm (35.43 inches) by 400mm (15.748 inches), and is 4mm thick.
The Tt eSports DASHER EXTENDED has a really nice feel on the top, Tt calls this material “cloth weave material”. It is slightly slicker than most mouse pads, a bit more of a satin finish than a standard flat black like most mouse pads. The graphics are sharp and well implemented into the mouse pad, not raised or detectable by feel whatsoever, completely smooth.
The edges of the mouse pad are slightly raised, with a nice looking stitching that runs the entire perimeter of the pad. The backside of the pad is the fairly standard textured rubber material, which lays nice and flat, and grips the surface of your desk well.
This mouse pad has no detectable odor, no plastic or rubber smell whatsoever, which is great, as I have owned some mouse pads that would drive you out of the room they smelled so bad.
Using this mouse pad is great. It really is large enough to give you the freedom to setup your space to meet your needs. The surface of the pad is slightly slicker than others I have used, but I had no issue with this, as there was no noticeable change in the friction between my mouse and the pad, but I did notice that my hand was able to move around a little easier, so that is certainly noteworthy.
You can get this mouse pad the DASHER EXTENDED, The MEDIUM, and the MINI SLIM for MSRP of $34.99, $16.99, and $6.99 respectively.
