At its Adobe MAX conference, which runs until the 7th, Adobe revealed a number of updates that are coming to its desktop apps, and also unveiled two brand-new mobile apps that will make on-the-go editing easier than ever.
Photoshop Fix (not to be confused with Photoshop Mix) is a one-stop shop for fixing up photos with common problems. It implements certain tools from the desktop version of Photoshop that photographers tend to rely on often, such as the Healing Brush and Liquify. The second app is Capture CC, one that combines the tools of Brush, Shape, Color, and Hue into a single app. It’s not clear if this means that those individual apps will be discontinued at a later date. As has become a theme with Adobe, these brand-new launches are bound for Apple’s iOS only at the moment. Perhaps we’ll see Android versions roll out with the next major Creative Cloud update.
For those with touch interfaces, Adobe is catering to you in a big way with “Touch Workspace”, touch-optimized interfaces that will be hitting some of its Adobe’s most popular apps, including Photoshop and InDesign. There isn’t too much mystery surrounding this; Touch Workspaces will simply make it easier, and perhaps more intuitive, to control an interface with gestures.
On the desktop front, Adobe has updated many apps, and has introduced a new preview application called Fuse CC. This will allow you to create 3D models that can be imported into Photoshop for manipulation. As of the time of writing, while I received a Photoshop update, I do not see Fuse CC listed in Creative Cloud’s software repository.
Back in June, Adobe introduced its Stock platform, which allows artists to promote and sell their work to the masses. Today, it’s introducing Portfolio, which lets users easily create a portfolio website (on their own domain) without having to touch a single line of code. This could prove a boon for those who don’t want to hire a Web designer or spend time learning how to create a website otherwise.
All of this is just a drop in the bucket of what Adobe is pushing out at MAX, so be sure to check out the official blog post to learn more.
