Throughout his life, Alan Turing accomplished some amazing things, made some important discoveries and simply proved himself a genius time and time again. As such, he goes down as one of the most important people in British history, and had he not died at the tender age of 41, we can’t help but wonder what other things this great man could have also accomplished.
Turing’s legacy is far from simple, with there being many reasons why he’s remembered so fondly. While he might have seemed like a man who never took a break, he was apparently a huge fan of Monopoly, having only ever played on a home-made board. Now, in the year which would mark his 100th birthday, Winning Moves, the company behind Monopoly’s special editions, is releasing a special Alan Turing Edition, and it looks pretty sweet.
According to the official product page, the board features a recreation of the original hand-drawn board, never-before-seen pictures of Turing and family, Turing’s face on all of the banknotes (complimenting a current petition to have Turing’s face on all £10 notes), huts and blocks in lieu of houses and hotels and other features that anyone who’s studied up on Turing will no doubt recognize.
The board is currently on pre-order from Bletchley Park, representing the place where Turing once worked. It’s being sold for £29.99, and according to CNET, is currently only having a production of 2,000 units – 1,000 of which Google has already purchased. In case these sell fast, you’ll need to jump on one fast if you want it.
