Being a PC gamer is a great thing for a number of reasons, but one of the downsides is that we often feel the need to convince developers that our platform of choice is one worth supporting. Often, a developer has an excuse that the target audience isn’t as large, or there are just limited resources. As a result, we often get the wrong end of the stick with our ports (if we get them at all) – there’s a good reason “console port” has become ingrained in our language.
Well, developer Remedy, responsible for the originally-for-PC-but-moved-to-console-and-back-to-PC-again game Alan Wake, has just posted a hopeful message on its official site. When fans questioned how well the game has been selling, a developer chimed in:
“We are very happy with the sales and hitting #1 on Steam at launch was nothing short of amazing. We recouped our development and marketing expenses during the first 48 hours. And yes, we’re certainly very excited about PC.“
That’s right – Remedy recouped its PC development costs in a mere two days. If that doesn’t prove that the PC as a platform is worth supporting, I’m not sure what could.
Big thanks to Kayden for passing this news along to us.
