Since its launch, Amazon Game Studios has had a fixed focus on mobile gaming, with titles targeting Android, iOS, and of course, Fire. Now, the company wants to branch out, something it revealed through a job listing at game developer website Gamasutra.
Rather than target one or more of the current-gen consoles, Amazon has decided to take its next project to the PC – a project it calls ‘ambitious’. Given the talent on hand, and the talent it seeks, that’s not too surprising. Amazon says that its team is composed of developers who’ve worked on Portal, World of Warcraft, BioShock, Dota 2, Halo, Infamous, Shadow of Mordor, The Last Of Us, Half-Life 2, and also Left 4 Dead.

In its post, Amazon highlights its desire to hire people who are excited to use Twitch, AWS cloud, and “technical innovation to radically evolve gameplay.” Given the wording, it seems that this will be no ordinary game. Perhaps it will make good use of VR, or some other piece of technology that makes the game a bit more interesting than standard fare.
Whatever the game becomes, I’m glad it’s targeting the PC.
