AMD has today released the latest version of its Radeon Pro for Enterprise driver, 20.Q3. This isn’t one of the most feature-packed releases we’ve seen, but as always, the bug fixes and general polishing makes an upgrade worth it. Being that these Enterprise drivers only have four main releases each year, that level of polish should be high in these drivers.
AMD loves its comparisons to year-old drivers, and has included one again with this latest release. The company says that compared to the 19.Q3 driver from one year ago, the latest is up to 15% faster in geomean results seen in SPEC’s SPECviewperf 13 benchmark.
On a similar note, the company again mentions that its multi-tasking capabilities have an edge over the NVIDIA competition: “AMD Radeon Pro W5700 graphics card with Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise 20.Q3 provides up to 53% better multitasking performance versus the competition when running the SPECviewperf® 13 benchmark 3dsmax-06 modeling workflow.” This is still something we need to dive into testing at some point (and to say we’re overdue would be an understatement).
This latest driver also brings about better power efficiency for select GPUs, namely the current top gun, Radeon Pro W5700. The claim is up to 42% less power vs. the direct competition, but we’re not sure what the gain is over previous drivers. It’s good to see efforts being made post-release to continue improving power efficiency, however, and not only focus purely on performance.
If you’re rocking a Radeon Pro card, you can grab the latest driver from the official source.
