In advance of a widely expected GeForce launch, AMD has decided to spice-up its Radeon offerings, and if you’re in the market for either an RX 570+ or Vega 56+, you’re going to want to pay attention to this promotion. It’s been a while since AMD has offered a game bundle, but even those that have been offered in the past have tended to feature games that couldn’t entirely be called “fresh”. No such issue here.
Considering the fact that an RX 570 can be had for about $240 USD, purchasers of that card, or even the RX 580 for a few bucks more are really in for one heck of a deal, as my current pricing puts this game bundle at ~$120 USD; which assumes $60 for AC, and $30 for the others. That’s basically half the value of the GPU, for games that are so new, they’re not even released yet.
Star Control: Origins is a space strategy title developed by AMD’s long-time friend Stardock, and is an effective revisiting of the original Star Control which came out in 1990. Back then, the game was published by Accolade, and if that name doesn’t hit you right in the nostalgia, its parent company Infogrames probably won’t, either (a pity).
Of the three games on offer here, it’s Strange Brigade that grabs me most. It’s an adventure game with puzzle elements that takes place in the 1930s and is designed around co-op play – something not catered-to enough in this market, as far as I’m concerned. At first glance, the game looks awesome, rich with detail, and with lots of interesting enemies to “deal with”.
Finally, Odyssey, part of a modestly known game series called Assassin’s Creed, is also included, and will take you all the way back to hundreds of years BCE to explore the history of the Peloponnesian War, which of course will include fighting epic and legendary battles both on land and sea. I would tell you more, but it’s all Greek to me.
If you want to take advantage of this bundle, I’d recommend checking here for all of the required information. Whatever you do: make sure the etailer you’re buying your card from acknowledges the bundle.
