It sure looks like we’ll soon be seeing an emergence of Amiga games in the near-future, with an LA firm having acquired all of Amiga Games Inc. for $500,000. It’s unclear at this point exactly which games AGI held the rights to, but Writers’ Group Film Corp. pits the number at “300+”. Just how many of the classics are within that 300 remains yet to be seen.
Syndicate – Released for Amiga in 1993
Lemmings – Released for Amiga in 1991
Writers’ Group mentioned that it plans to release these acquired games (or at least some of them) in the near-future, on a variety of platforms: “Writers’ Group will be making additional announcements over the next several weeks regarding Amiga Games’ new and existing distribution arrangements with the best-selling smartphone, tablet and other device manufacturers.” As AGI had released some games via PCs, consoles, smartphones and tablets, we’d assume that little would change with this acquisition – and I sure hope not; I’d love to get some game time in with some Amiga classics on the PC and keep it legal at the same time.
