More and more people are building computers and more and more of them are realizing that $30 generic cases just don’t cut it, unless we are talking about their fingers. Helping out the do it yourselfer is Antec with its One Hundred chassis, which it feels will appeal to budget builders looking for a feature rich chassis at a reasonable price.
On the outside you get the standard matte black finish, mesh drive bay covers, 4 USB 2.0 ports at the top, standard audio I/O ports next to them and an open top tray to store bits and pieces. Antec have also added a case lock on the rear of the chassis to keep your components safe. Inside there is room for full sized ATX, micro-ATX and mini-ITX motherboards, a large cutout in the motherboard tray for easy removal of aftermarket heatsinks as well as smaller cutouts for cable management, a bottom mounted power supply and room for 6 internal 3.5″ drives, 3 external 3.5″ drives and one internal 2.5″ drive at the bottom of the hard drive cage. There are also 8 expansion slots as well as a cable storage compartment on the far side of the hard drive cage with some cable ties pre-installed. To control temperatures there is room for dual 120mm fans in the front covered with a washable dust filter, room for a third 120mm fan on the left side panel and Antec’s own TwoCool 120mm fan at the rear and 140mm fan on the top.
Not too shabby but there is no reset button on the front panel, the expansion slot covers appear to be the one time break-out type and the dimensions also place it slightly larger than Antec’s famous Three Hundred chassis while managing to be lighter so that may indicate that the panel thickness has been reduced in an effort to cut costs.
With a price tag of just under $67 Cdn/$60 US, this really does not seem like a budget case, especially considering the Two Hundred and Three Hundred models can be found for less, however the updated looks, full feature set including improved cable management options and 3 year warranty may provide enough style and substance for some.
Antec’s One Hundred is the gaming case that delivers high-end features at a price that won’t break the bank. Eight expansion slots provide exceptional expandability, and can accommodate multiple video cards. A sleek painted black interior with clean, perforated front bezel houses your components in style, while the four top USB ports with audio in/out and handy storage tray bring convenience and accessibility to the package. Finally, the bottom PSU mount, two included TwoCool™ fans and washable fan filter keep your system cool and quiet. Antec’s One Hundred provides a wealth of in-demand features while keeping you within your budget.
