If you’re in the market for a new gaming monitor, and happen to be seeking out AMD FreeSync support, one of AOC’s two new releases might just prove suitable. Well, that assumes that you’re content with a modest 1080p resolution.
Both the G2460PF and G2770PF support the same 1080p resolution, despite the latter being a 27-inch monitor. A slew of FreeSync/G-SYNC 27-inch displays out there run 1440p, so the decision to stick to 1080p here is a bit odd, at least to me. But, its $359 price tag might make it up for some people. The 24-inch model is $269.
A major highlight of both displays is that they can operate at 144Hz and boast a response time of 1ms. Both also happen to have built-in speakers, which is a nice touch (mostly when your real speakers or headphones give up the ghost). Both displays also sport red accents, though it’s by coincidence that those are AMD’s colors; previous AOC models without official FreeSync support are identical aesthetically as these new ones.
If there’s a downside to either of these displays, it’s that both are TN panels. While that can be done well, it’s never going to hold a candle to a bright IPS panel with its awesome viewing angles. However, unless you’ll be running these displays in portrait mode (it’s not clear if that’s possible), then it shouldn’t prove a major issue.
If you’re interested in snatching one of these displays up, you won’t have to wait. Newegg is currently stocking both the G2460PF and G2770PF.
