Apple has just announced that it will begin selling its “epic” iPad Pro on its website beginning Wednesday, and in store later this week. The same applies to both the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard accessories.
Announced in September, the iPad Pro sets out to be a professional’s dream device. It could be used for creative purposes, or for simply having a lightweight touch screen that can be used for myriad other purposes (an interesting example is seen below).
Available in over 40 countries, pricing for the 12.9-inch iPd Pro starts at $799, which includes 32GB of storage and relies on Wi-Fi for connectivity. A $1,079 model boosts the storage capacity to 128GB and also adds cellular support. The Apple Pencil will be priced at $99, while the Smart Keyboard will be priced at $169. Other accessories include Smart Covers that will cost $59, and silicone cases, priced at $79.
Apple notes that anyone who purchases an iPad Pro in store can be treated to free first-time use assistance, which will include the showing off of certain App Store apps that complement the large device. Per the press release, “iPad Pro has already inspired developers of the next generation of advanced apps for everything from productivity, design, illustration, engineering and medical, to education, gaming and entertainment.” Paper, Procreate 3, and UMake are three name-dropped apps that suit the iPad Pro perfectly, so if you’re planning to pick an iPad Pro up, be sure to check those out.
The verdict is still out on whether or not a larger iPad will fly off the shelves, so now we begin the waiting game.
