When is this going to end? Social media networks blew up late last week with reports of password reset emails being sent to members of Apple’s developer site, and yesterday, the company confirmed that a breach did in fact go down:
Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website. Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed. In the spirit of transparency, we want to inform you of the issue. We took the site down immediately on Thursday and have been working around the clock since then.
The good thing is that no sensitive data is exposed, but the bad thing is that this developer website is important to both developers and Apple alike. Thankfully, developers which have apps set to expire in the next couple of days have nothing to worry about. Apple has said that there is no risk to them while it works to get the developer service back up and running.
With Ubuntu’s forums hacked over the weekend as well, who else thinks this is getting out of control?
