According to Bloomberg, production of the next iPhone (or rather, iPhones) has just begun, with full-fledged production set to begin next month. If history is any gauge, the next models will be called iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
At this point, it doesn’t seem like the new iPhones will be bringing a slew of new features to the table, but instead will be iterating on their solid base. One feature that’s been floating around though is “Force Touch”, first seen on the 12″ Retina MacBook, and then the Apple Watch. Touted as the next “big thing” since multi-touch, Force Touch would give users far more flexibility with performing actions on the device – a long tap could act as a right-click, for example, or enable a special menu.
The report states that both of the upcoming phones are going to match the form-factor of the current ones, meaning they will be 4.7- and 5.5-inch in size. Likewise, the exteriors might not change much at all either.
Since Force Touch alone would be a bit of a hard sell for upgraders, we can hope the new iPhones will include a bumped-up processor, and perhaps even an improved camera – in effect making the best camera even better. With production beginning now, it shouldn’t take long before the real juicy details begin to leak out.
