With an update just rolled-out to Transformer Pad TF300 owners, ASUS becomes the first vendor other than Google to offer Android 4.2 to its customers. There is the Nexus 7, which ASUS manufacturers and does have 4.2, but that’s still considered to be a “Google” tablet, not ASUS.
TF300 owners may be prompted to update the next time the tablet is used, but if not, a forced manual check can be accessed by going into the Android OS settings, scrolling down to “About Tablet” and then hitting-up the “System Update” option. Expect it to take about 10 – 15 minutes to update, and you’ll want to make sure there is plenty of juice in the battery before getting the process underway.
Alongside this announcement, ASUS also noted that the Transformer Pad Infinity, MeMO Pad Smart 10″ and MeMO Pad will receive 4.2 in Q2. Unfortunately, it appears as though 4.2 updates will not be coming to the company’s older tablets.
