With Intel’s 4th-generation Core processors set to launch around mid-2013, we’re going to soon begin seeing companies tout their upcoming releases to support the platform. Up first, ASUS, with teaser shots for three upcoming motherboards – one falling into a brand-new series called “Gryphon”. Have a look:
Apart from the fact that I’ve never had such a major craving for M&Ms, I’m interested in seeing where “Gryphon” fits into ASUS’ product-line. According to Wikipedia, Gryphon is the original spelling of Griffin, the mythical creature with the wings of an eagle and the body of a lion. I’m really not sure how this correlates with ASUS’ boards, but I have doubts they’re meant to become airborne.
Haswell’s exact launch date is a little unclear, but we’d expect things to heat up by the end of the second quarter.
