Techgage covers a wide gamut of technologies and one of my personal favorites is network attached storage. NAS has played a huge role my own home network, and that in turn has led into a substantial amount of coverage on the site. One company that has continued to impress us over the last few years has been ASUSTOR. With products that deliver impressive performance and a UI that continues to push the industry forward, ASUSTOR has accomplished a lot in the almost five years it has been in existence.
Announced last week, ASUSTOR’s latest NAS offerings are economical “entry-level” quad-core devices that allow up to two or four drives, depending upon which model you choose. The AS3202T and AS3204T bring Intel’s newest generation of Celeron quad-core processors, running at 1.6 GHz. The CPU brings powerful graphics processing, supporting Intel’s Quick Sync technology to encode and decode HD videos directly from the NAS. Supporting AES-NI encryption instructions, both new NAS boxes offer hardware encryption, providing safe and secure storage while not sacrificing overall performance thanks to the new Intel CPU.
The AS3202T and AS3204T both provide a rich variety of connection interfaces, allowing users to connect various peripheral devices to the NAS to expand functionality. The HDMI port and infrared receiver can be paired with the ASUSTOR Portal App and official ASUSTOR remote control, to turn the NAS into a multimedia player and hub that is as easy to operate as a TV.
Also worth mentioning, is that the AS3202T and AS3204T both feature a stylish modern diamond plate finished exterior which allows it to seamlessly fit into users’ living rooms and be used in combination with existing Hi-Fi home entertainment systems. Users can centrally store all of their digital multimedia on the NAS (photos, music, movies) and play it all back on demand, enjoying a comprehensive home multimedia experience.
“In order to provide better multimedia playback experience to consumers, we are launching the AS3202T and AS3204T tower model NAS devices which feature powerful performance,” said Johnny Chen, Product Manager at ASUSTOR. “When compared to the 31 series devices of the previous generation, the 32 series devices provide even more powerful graphics processing capabilities which allow for sharper imaging and smoother playback for all high definition multimedia.”
We have an in-depth look at the Taiwanese company’s AS6104T and should be posted in the coming days. For those wanting a hint on our thoughts, we are very impressed with both the performance and the ever-improving UI. ASUSTOR consistently offers a stable UI and devices capable of high performance. Watch for that review over the next few days.
