Those who’ve been waiting on an announcement for the Active version of Samsung’s high-end Galaxy S6 won’t have to wait much longer: AT&T has announced that it’s going to begin selling the device this Friday, June 12th.
Built with active lifestyles in mind (surprised?), the Galaxy S6 Active will come in three different color schemes: Camo White, Camo Blue, and Gray. With its rugged design, it can handle a bit of abuse, while still managing to be lightweight and boast a sleek design.
Qualified customers using AT&T Next can score the Active for $23.17/mo (30 months), $28.96/mo (24 months), or $34.75/mo (20 months). It seems likely that the company would also offer an on-contract price with a down-payment requirement.
Specs-wise, the S6 Active is almost identical to the S6 and S6 Edge. That gives it a 5.1-inch AMOLED screen with a ppi of 577, 16 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front cameras, an eight-core processor (likely the same Exynos 7420), and 32GB of internal storage. What sets Active apart from the other S6 models is a much larger battery: 3,500mAh (vs. 2,600mAh of the Edge).
Interestingly, preorders are not available, so if you want to snatch the Active and happen to be on AT&T, set a reminder for Friday.
