To many, Steve Jobs is the image of pure genius, but while Apple’s long-standing CEO is in the limelight all the time, he’s actually rather seclusive in nature, leaving most of his personal life and thoughts to speculation. Given this, Jobs’ first authorized biography, titled “iSteve: The Book of Jobs“, is pretty well set to sell a ton of copies when released next year.
On behalf of Simon & Schuster, the book is being penned by Walter Isaacson, who promises to deliver an unprecedented look into Jobs’ life. Work began on the book in 2009, and since then, Isaacson has interviewed Jobs’ colleagues at Apple, industry members (including competitors), and even Jobs’ own family members.
While numerous unauthorized biographies have been written about Jobs in the past, given that iSteve: The Book of Jobs is the first one with input from Jobs himself, this looks to be -the- definitive book to learn as much as you could ever want to know about the man who came back to a company years after leaving, only to sky-rocket its innovation and revenue (even that seems like an understatement).
Some speculate that since Jobs decided to authorize a biography now, he may be planning to retire at around the same time of its publishing. What do you guys think?
In a statement about the highly anticipated book, Simon & Schuster publisher Jonathan Karp said, “This is the perfect match of subject and author, and it is certain to be a landmark book about one of the world’s greatest innovators. Just as he did with Einstein and Benjamin Franklin, Walter Isaacson is telling a unique story of revolutionary genius.”
