The times, they are a-changin’! Not long ago it seemed like gigantic full-tower cases were the soup du jour, but lately more and more small form factor chassis have begun to spring up from a host of manufacturers. BitFenix is one of those companies that has been very aggressive with the development of its small form factor chassis, and one of the results is the newly-launched Pandora.
Unveiled at Computex this past summer, the Pandora is a mini-iTX/micro-ATX chassis that features aluminum panels over a steel frame. Despite measuring only 160mm wide, the Pandora can still hold some high-end hardware, such as GPUs measuring up to 350mm long, 240mm radiators to keep the CPU cool, and up to two 3.5″ or three 2.5″ drives. There’s also support for long power supplies, room for up to three 120mm fans, and some unique cable management options.
The Pandora is available in black or silver and comes with or without a window. There’s also a lower cost model called the Pandora Core, which can also be ordered with or without a window, but does away with what we can only assume is a first of its kind feature on any chassis, the BitFenix ICON. The ICON is a 2.4″, LED-lit TFT screen that shows the BitFenix logo on the front panel by default. Users who want to personalize their system can change this to display any image they wish. The Pandora Core ships with the ICON replaced by an aluminum BitFenix logo.
The press release didn’t contain an expected retail price or a street date, so keep your eyes peeled.
