Following the usual round of intense hype, Gearbox released Borderlands 3 to the Epic Game Store this past September. Since then, it’s sold well enough to become 2K Games’ fastest-selling game ever, selling 50% more than BL2 did during its 5-day launch window, and ultimately breaching $1 billion in sales.
As for the game itself, it’s been a well-received first-person shooter overall, comical as ever, and great for new players and veterans alike. It’s actually likely the veterans that will enjoy the game most, especially as Borderlands 2 couldn’t seem to release enough DLC to satiate the appetites of fervent fans (us included).
Those who’ve been determined to wait for the Steam release of the game have had their patience rewarded, as jumping in now means you’ll have DLC to enjoy immediately after finishing the game, with more soon to come down the road. Better still? Gearbox has decided to launch the game on Steam with a 50% off sale.
Thanks to its mega discount, the base version of Borderlands 3 can be had for $29.99 USD. A $39.99 Deluxe edition nets you a bunch of cosmetics, and some “toy” weapons. At this point, choosing that particular bundle would strike us as odd, as it doesn’t add any new content – just aesthetics. Thus, the $49.99 Super Deluxe edition seems to make a lot more sense, as it includes the entire DLC set, and Butt Stallion pack, which includes some fancy schmancy weaponry.
If you’ve never played any Borderlands before, but you somehow already know right out-of-the-gate that it’ll be for you, you can instead shell out $60 for all of the above, as well as Borderlands 1 and 2 GOTY, as well as Borderlands: Pre-Sequel. It’s not clear from the massive list if the Pre-Sequel DLC is included, but hopefully so (not that the entire collection for $60 isn’t an amazing deal, but it’d be an odd omission).
Fortunately, anyone anxious to jump into the game on Steam won’t have to wait much longer, as it’s set to unlock this Friday.
