We posted a story last week that questioned whether or not the iPad 2 was better than the third-generation iPad, with heat and battery concerns topping the reasons. Consumer Reports was one publication to jump on the latest iPad for heat issues, and it found that on average, certain areas of the device could run as much as 14°F warmer than the iPad 2. According to its updated charts, however, that added heat is not a reason for concern.
The publication has stated that the latest iPad establishes a “new benchmark in excellence”, thanks mostly to its crisp, color-accurate display. Further, the 5 megapixel camera was deemed to be one of the best, and 4G testing proved very fast. There’s acknowledgment of battery charging issues, but again, there doesn’t seem to be any real concern around them.
Elaborating on the display, it’s said that the colors are more saturated, allowing them to pop, and the screen lacks the blueish hue that the iPad 2 had while offering a “warmer color temperature”. I personally believe that the resolution on the new iPad is overkill, but color accuracy is one thing I can definitely stand by.
Other tablets added to the publication’s charts includes Toshiba’s Excite 10LE, the lightest 10.1″ that’s been tested, Pantech’s Element, an 8″ tablet that promises to be waterproof, and also Sony’s Tablet P and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 7.7.
