If you own one of ASUS’ Republic of Gamers motherboards and enjoy making your PC look as good as it is fast, you might have run into an issue where it’s almost impossible to find “perfect” memory modules to suit the motherboard. Well, thanks to Corsair, that problem is no more, as it’s just released some modules specific to ASUS’ ROG series.
As with most ASUS RoG motherboards, these new DOMINATOR modules are dominated with black color, and accented with a red top. Out of the gate, these modules are spec’d for 3200MHz operation, but with an ROG-exclusive XMP profile, you’ll be able push the kit to 3333MHz.
There are a couple of things to bear in mind about this special profile: just because you have an ASUS ROG motherboard doesn’t mean that you have the right one. For starters, it has to be part of the Z170 generation; so if that’s not the case, you’re sadly out of luck (but you’d still be able to use the kit without that exclusive profile). Boards that do support the secret profile are:
- ROG MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA
- MAXIMUS VIII HERO
- ROG MAXIMUS VIII EXTREME/ASSEMBLY
- ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO ALPHA
- MAXIMUS VIII IMPACT
- MAXIMUS VIII EXTREME
- MAXIMUS VIII RANGER
- MAXIMUS VIII GENE
Outside of its sheer speed, there are some other features that helps Corsair’s DOMINATOR kits stand out of the crowd. Each IC is carefully screened for quality, to start, and each module features a ten-layer PCB helped kept cool with Corsair’s DHX cooling technology.
This special RoG DOMINATOR kit is expected to become available very soon, as a 16GB option, retailing for around $189.99. That’s pricey for a 16GBÂ DDR4 kit, but bear in mind these ones ship with atypically fast speeds. There’s also a price to be paid for modules that perfectly complement your motherboard. That’s a luxury that doesn’t come by too often.
