Being content with award-winning peripherals, memory, power supplies and chassis, Corsair is adding yet another product to its gamer-centric product portfolio – chairs. Based on the ever popular sports-type racing design found in many luxury (or modded) cars, Corsair is building something stylish, yet built to last.
Gaming chairs are not new, and they nearly all look the same, so manufacturers put the emphasis on styling and build quality. Built with a solid-steel core wrapped in layers of dense foam, the T1 RACE is built for even the heaviest of loads. It’s fitted with a class 4 gas lift (typically, these can handle a few hundred pounds in weight), so it shouldn’t collapse over time.
The ‘4D’ arm rests have an extra degree of movement as the can raise, lower, shift and swivel in nearly any direction. Judging by the pictures, the chair should be fine with them removed, too, in case the rests get in the way.
There is a lumbar and neck pillow for additional support to help keep your posture at least somewhat straight for those long gaming sessions. The seat can tilt 10 degrees forward, or go flat-out to 180 degrees – you know, just in case you need a 20 minute power nap waiting for your teammates to push ‘start’ on the next round on competitive QWOP.
One of the nice touches is the inclusion of a set of rollerblade style nylon caster wheels to help the chair glide easily and quietly over a variety of surfaces, and without scratching hard surfaces. The chair is upholstered in PU leather for easy cleaning, and available in a choice of five colors, so you should be able to find one that suits you. The Corsair logo is subtly embossed on the head rest, but embroidered on the back.
The T1 RACE chair is available from Corsair’s online store for a penny short of $350 USD with free shipping.
