For gamers who demand a lot of flexibility from their peripherals, Corsair’s SCIMITAR RGB Elite gaming mouse is worth a look. Proving that not all gaming mice are built alike, this SCIMITAR bundles in seventeen progammable buttons, twelve of which are located on the same side as the thumb rest on this left-handed rodent.
As far as gaming mice go, the SCIMITAR is definitely niche, because not everyone requires so much functionality within a thumb’s reach. At the same time, for those who can take advantage of so much functionality, and can remember which button does which action, it’s easy to see how beneficial a mouse like this could be.
Because it’d be challenging to navigate twelve buttons in a small area, Corsair textures each set of three differently, so that you can feel around easily enough and find the right button quickly. While gaming is the focus here (especially MOBA and MMO), this mouse could also benefit creators who can take advantage of macros to speed up parts of their workflows.
Because twelve buttons at your thumb might not be the most comfortable in the default configuration, Corsair is including a slider that can be moved ahead to provide a better fit. And, being a gaming mouse, this SCIMITAR’s 18,000 DPI via the PixArt PMW3391 sensor should be enough to do the trick for most anyone. On the RGB front, four zones are included (front, side, logo, and wheel).
Corsair’s press release for this mouse doesn’t include a price, but it’s actually already available at Amazon, for $79.99 USD. In addition to this mouse, Corsair is also launching its massive MM500 3XL mouse pad, also now available, for $49.99. This 48′ x 24′ pad is made with an anti-fray material, which in our experience has been pretty good for the long-haul. It’s not often we see mouse pads cost $50, but few mouse pads cover virtually an entire desk!
