Imagine my surprise as I pulled up Corsair’s page only to find a new product line that flew in under the radar – Vengeance Gaming. Vengeance has been Corsair’s current enthusiast brand of memory but is being expanded to incorporate K-series keyboards, M-series mice and a few new headset models.
The new crop of headsets start with the over-the-ears and behind-the-head 1100. It features foam pads that sit on the ear and analog or USB support thanks to the included adapter. Both the 1300 and 1500 models look more along the lines of what we’re used to seeing with the former being a full size stereo headset with analog connectivity and the former offering 7.1 surround sound using a USB connection.
For the MMO/RTS players the K90 keyboard features 18 customizable keys that can switch between three sets of macros using the included software and over 90 LEDs providing adjustable blue back-lighting. The M90 mouse is also tailored for the same type of players and includes 15 customizable buttons, 9 of which can be reached with the thumb. It uses a 5700 DPI Avago-9500 laser sensor for tracking and can report at either 1000, 500, 250 or 125Hz.
Switching gears to FPS players, the K60 drops the extra keys in favour of a wrist rest and a different texture on keys that are used most often. The M60 mouse claims to help by offering 8 programmable buttons in all and a special sniper button that allows users to switch between high and low DPI modes on-the-fly to help with intricate movements. The same laser sensor is used and the same report rate options are available.
Corsair has the headsets running anywhere from $40 to $100 while the K90 checks in at $130 and the K60 at $110. The M90 will cost $80 and the M60 $70 but availability for all products is still up in the air.
