Taiwan-based Cubitek, an old player with a new name in the chassis market, has launched its Magic Cube. While the name of the product may not make one sit up and take notice, the design should, seeing how components are housed in three separate aluminum chassis.
The first, which looks like an ordinary mid-tower enclosure is for the motherboard, video card and bottom mounted power supply. The official press release states that ATX and extended-ATX motherboards are supported as well as the largest video cards on the market today however micro-ATX may also fit from the look of the mounting points.
On the top are two USB 3.0 ports, an eSATA port and 3.5mm analog headphone and microphone jacks. Around the back are 8 PCI slots and cut-outs with rubber grommets for water cooling. The inside features a black interior, cable management holes and CPU cut-out in the motherboard tray with cooling coming from double 140mm front fans, a 140mm fan on the top and a 120mm fan at the rear.
The top of the two smaller units off to the side is for an optical drive and/or a floppy drive by way of a 5.25″ to 3.5″ converter, while the bottom is for hard drives. The hard drive enclosure features an 80mm fan to keep things cool and comes in a 3 bay or 8 bay configuration. There is no mention of 2.5″ drives being used.
Pricing and availability has yet to be released but keep an eye out for other Cubitek products. The company seems to be making a big push since January with other all aluminum chassis including mini-ITX and full tower offerings.
