CyberPowerPC says that its new Trinity series of gaming PCs take on an “other-worldly form”, and I think I’d have to agree. This three-sided PC might sport the most interesting design I’ve seen since Apple released its latest Mac Pro. Just look at it!
Called Tristellar, this unique chassis comes from Deepcool, and while it was shown off at this year’s CES, it somehow flew right under my radar. As we can see from the shot below, the bottom-right compartment stores the PSU, while the bottom-left stores the motherboard and front slot-loading ODD. The top compartment is dedicated to the graphics card, of which CyberPowerPC’s Trinity peaks with a GeForce GTX 970. At the front of this compartment are audio jacks and dual USB 3.0 ports.
A chassis like this is going to deliver a bunch of obvious side-effects when it comes to maintaining or upgrading the PC, but some might consider the cool aesthetics to outweigh those downsides. It appears that the back of each compartment can be easily removed so that hardware access can be granted, but that doesn’t explain exactly how the hardware is staying secure in there – there might be more to removal than immediately meets the eye.
CyberPowerPC has given its Trinity series three different configurations, with the base model retailing for $955; it includes AMD’s A10-7700K APU, 8GB of DDR3-1600, NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 750 Ti, MSI’s A88XI AC motherboard, as well as WD’s Black2 hybrid drive (120GB + 1TB).
The top-end model is called XTREME and retails for $1,795. It includes Intel’s Core i7-5820K processor, NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 970 graphics card, ASRock’s X99E-ITX motherboard, and a 240GB SSD along with 2TB hard drive.
Those interested in the Trinity can head here. Pre-orders are available now, with systems shipping on the 28th.
