Destiny 2 PC Beta Kicks Off – What You Should Know

Following months of anticipation, PC gamers who’ve been craving the chance to explore the Destiny universe will soon be able to – as of today, tomorrow, or even Wednesday.

The primary way you can access the beta today is by having preordered the game. If you did so, you should have received a code that you can enter into your Bungie.net account to gain access to another that will work in the Blizzard App. If you’re a GeForce Experience user, NVIDIA may have hooked you up with an early access code. Like the preorder code, you will need to enter this into the Blizzard App. A third way is to stalk Twitter, and hope you catch someone posting codes before they disappear.

At 10AM PST tomorrow, the beta will convert to open, allowing anyone wanting to take the role of a Guardian for a day or two before succumbing to the allure of that purchase button. The beta period officially ends at 10AM PST on Thursday.

In the beta, you’ll be able to play through a campaign mission, a Strike (3-man mission), and also jump into the PvP arena to slaughter other Guardians, or get slaughtered by other Guardians (*raises hand*). There’s not a ton of gameplay here, and it’s not clear if it’s built on a months-old build like the console betas were, but either way, the beta is free, so it’s worth checking out what is available for the taking.

Because I’m such a Destiny fanboy, and have a knack for benchmarking, I’ll be spending the rest of the day throwing 12 GPUs at the game at up to four different resolutions. So, if you’re building a new PC soon for the purpose of playing Destiny 2, I will soon have the results you need.
