Well, this seemed to have come out of nowhere. Yesterday, Codemasters released a brand-new Dirt game on Steam called Dirt Rally, and for rally enthusiasts, there’s a lot to love. Currently, Rally is in early access, but even so, it offers a lot right out of the gate. We’re talking 3 locales to drive around in, 17 cars across 6 classes, upgrades, tuning, and more.
Here’s what some fans might find most interesting: “The physical simulation for DIRT Rally has been completely rebuilt to adequately capture how it feels to race across changing surfaces, and loose surfaces collect under the wheels during lateral sliding, creating a completely new feel to sliding around corners.”
In my very limited time with the game so far, I can honestly say that the game feels very good, and that what’s said above is accurate. Codemasters really wanted to impress with this title, especially since many of its titles don’t really cater to those who prefer a more genuine driving experience. While the game is more sim-like than previous Dirt games, it looks like it could still be enjoyed by anyone.
Currently, Dirt Rally is being sold for $31.49, but there’s no telling if that will go up or not at final launch.
